Teams by themes: The observation of what some former winners have become professionally reveals a gallery of distinctive portraits, with strong and varied ideas of what architecture is in its relation with the city, ideas that are prefigured in the competition. So Europan does not produce a single type of architect, “cloned” from one session to the next, as some have suggested, but rather a diversity of identites. And whilst they can be grouped into broad categories, within each category every team has a very specific place. So three generic figures express this diversity of approaches: Architects of sustainable landscapes; Architects of urban density / diversity ; Architects of the suburban and of infrastructures.
