Flexible Eco-district in Toledo (E), Europan 6:

Carlos Arroyo Zapatero, Eleonora Guidotti and Manuel Pérez Romero won EUropan 6 competition on the Toledo (E) site.
In an extension by the centre, the competition project is a scheme for sustainable growth over an area of 60.000m2. It includes strategies to create a Flexibility of uses through three typologies adaptable to the ways of life and to the mixture of uses. Tools are proposed for an adequate balance in potential growth - Texture or enriching the perception, beyong the plain surface into the dimensions of time and life-.
The implementation project develops the principles of the competition on a part of the site. Sustainable housing, commercial and working space, educational buildings interweaves to create in between them a tapestry of public spaces integrated into the environment - Community: rewriting the codes for shared space-. Rules for housing’s allocation let the new inhabitants free to adapt their space to their needs.
