Between Lausanne and
Berne, Fribourg is a linguistically mixed town. This ancient
medieval centre, on the banks of the Sarine, is as much
a cultural as a geographical bridge. The beauty of the
locality, as well as the strong identity it exudes, and
the geological situation that naturally induces concentration,
makes the town desirable to live in.

The site is close to one
of the medieval entrances into the town and occupies a
privileged position. The town needs symbolic projects
in order to place it in the present, projects with the
capacity to take make the transition from one era to another
more legible. |
