The commune's undulating
contours are cut into by the valley of the River Dyle
and its tributaries.
Thanks to its geographic situation and its self-generated
dynamism (creation of the Catholic Louvain University
in 1972, a science park, a cultural hub, a railway junction,
etc.) the town of Ottignies – Louvain La-Neuve is
very attractive in employment terms. Housing, on the other
hand is lagging behind.

In the context of the
urban renovation of a district close to the centre, the
town intends to give due consideration to innovative social
and functional diversity; on the site an old tawery that
it owns.
